One and a half million invalid passports found in Ukraine
Data from the State Migration Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicate that there are about 1,5 million canceled passports in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is evidenced by data from Opendatabot.

Among the main reasons why a passport can be revoked, the most common are the death of the owner, loss or destruction of the document, or theft of the passport.
“In most cases, the State Migration Service takes away the canceled passport, but in some cases it remains unknown where exactly and who has the document. For example, the passport was lost, stolen, or it is the passport of the deceased and it was not given to the State Migration Service,” the message notes.
If the canceled passport was not confiscated by the State Migration Service, it can be used by fraudsters. If a citizen signs an agreement using such a passport, it will be declared invalid.
Today there are 1,5 million such passports in Ukraine. Of these, almost 1,3 million are lost, 90 thousand are stolen, 25,7 thousand are passports of the deceased that were not handed over to the State Migration Office.
