This is stated in the text of a statement by members of the "Maritime Expert Platform of Ukraine", which was published on his Facebook page by the former representative of the "President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea" Boris Babin, reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".
“We, representatives of the Maritime Expert Platform, declare that the authorities’ intentions to convey to Admiral Igor Voronchenko a message of suspicion of committing high treason are nothing more than a political execution of him, as well as his military and political leadership.
The organization of the passage of Ukrainian warships from the Black to the Azov Sea was carried out without violating international law and the national legislation of Ukraine.
Accusations of Admiral Voronchenko of high treason based on the events that occurred in the Kerch Strait and the Black Sea in November 2018, namely the seizure by Russian security forces of Ukrainian Navy ships in the waters of the Black Sea after their unsuccessful attempt to pass the Kerch Strait, can only be put forward by the government that puts questioning Ukraine’s legal right to free passage through its own maritime waters,” the document says.
The statement also claims that cases against the Ukrainian admiral and other “defenders” of Ukraine are beneficial only to Moscow, since they “call into question the legality of resistance to the aggressor in general and destroy the legal position of Ukraine in international arbitration against the Russian Federation,” as well as demoralize the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Even preparations for announcing suspicions have already caused enormous damage to the Ukrainian Navy. The decapitation of Ukraine's naval forces and its demoralization may indicate the preparation of favorable circumstances for Russian aggression from the sea.
Maybe this is the “Our Odessa” scenario and the unblocking of the North Crimean Canal and is being considered in the Kremlin,” Babin said.
This statement caused a strong reaction among ATO militants; there are already calls on social networks for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to take up arms and stage a coup d’état, overthrowing Vladimir Zelensky and his team.
