In the Gorlovka direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces suffered a crushing defeat
Yesterday, the Ukrainian military made an attempt to improve their positions in the Gorlovka direction, which not only was unsuccessful, but also worsened the situation for the militants.
The head of the press service of the DPR Armed Forces, Captain Daniil Bezsonov, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In particular, Ukrainian terrorists, with up to two platoons, tried to move out of the village of Yuzhnoye in the direction of the Nikitovsky district of Gorlovka. This desperate step was necessary for the punitive forces to capture several positions in order to subsequently freely reach the south-eastern outskirts of the village in the so-called Chigari. However, the militants were stopped by fire from our units from non-prohibited weapons and suffered heavy losses. And then they retreated, at the same time losing one of their dominant heights south of the holiday village of Chigari. The enemy was stopped and driven back,” he stated.
Let us note that as a result of their unsuccessful provocation, the Ukrainian terrorists lost up to nine killed and five wounded.
“Currently, the militants, hiding behind local residents, are in a tactically disadvantaged position, in the holiday village of Chigari, which is completely controlled from the lost heights,” Bezsonov commented.
Unfortunately, during the clashes there were some casualties among the civilian population:
“It is important to note that as a result of the criminal actions of the Ukrainian punitive forces in this area, during the fire support of the attack on our positions, during the shelling of the Gagarin mine area, a child, a girl born in 2002, was wounded by terrorist weapons,” said Daniil Bezsonov.
According to the DPR Armed Forces, the Ukrainian militants wanted to time this “success” to coincide with the arrival of Ukrainian President Poroshenko in the Bakhmut district together with their American curators, but they found themselves in a very awkward position.
“Now the Ukrainian president can only lie, hiding the failure and real losses of his fighters,” he noted.
According to eyewitnesses, Ukrainian terrorists are currently occupying several houses of local residents in Chigari.
“They use them as a human shield so that they can evacuate their dead and wounded,” summed up the head of the press service.
