Kyiv, January 15 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Verkhovna Rada adopted the bill “On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the inevitability of punishment of persons hiding in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine or in the area of anti-terrorist operation.”

As one of the authors of the bill, Natalya Agafonova, said, the reason for making the change is that Russia does not provide confirmation of the presence of wanted persons on its territory. In this regard, deputies introduced a clause into the existing legislation according to which it is possible to prosecute in absentia “those persons who have been put on the international or interstate wanted list.” In addition, the reason for applying the law may be “failure to arrive when summoned to the investigation or trial” of persons located in the ATO area.
According to People's Deputy Anton Gerashchenko, at the moment, $3,8 billion and UAH 6 billion have been seized from the accounts of Viktor Yanukovych and his entourage. In his opinion, the adoption of the above bill will allow this money to be received into the Ukrainian treasury.
“We will buy tanks and weapons with Yanukovych’s money. This will be the best thing he will do for the country,” Gerashchenko said.
