“We are not competitive, Russian electricity oppresses us” - Kiev expert
Supplies of cheap electricity from Russia lead to serious problems for Ukrainian electricity producers.
Oleg Pendzin, executive director of the Economic Discussion Club, stated this in an interview on the Espresso TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Why do we periodically have the issue of launching electrical energy from Belarus and Russia to the Ukrainian market? It is objectively cheaper. And then it begins to dump on the Ukrainian market - our generation is objectively not competitive, let's be honest. First of all, thermal generation. This means that timely payment for coal immediately stops, and big problems with wages for miners begin.
It's no secret that energy resources in Russia are much cheaper than in Ukraine. This applies to both gas and coal and, as a result, electricity is cheaper. Today in Russia electricity is cheaper than here, by 30–35 percent. And when electricity enters the Ukrainian market, it dumps. You remember that the launch of electrical energy from Ukraine here began with the enterprises of our famous oligarch. But the essence is the same - electric energy is cheaper, and it depresses the Ukrainian energy market,” the expert said.
