Moscow will agree with the West not to give Kyiv the Donbass border with the Russian Federation
Russia must agree on a special status for Donbass directly with the West. Political scientist and economist Sergei Karaganov stated this on TV channel.

“People in Donbass will not want to have a border with Russia that someone controls. I would agree with reasonable people in the West, when they appear, that Donbass would be formally part of Ukraine, but in reality open to both Ukraine and Russia. Roughly speaking, the land that unites us. If there is such an agreement, after some time we will have a new reality,” Karaganov said.
At the same time, the expert considers Ukraine itself to be incapable of negotiations. He considers the condition for solving the Donbass problem to be the absence of new military clashes on Ukrainian territory in the next two years.
“I hope that Ukraine’s self-destruction will not lead to new elements of civil war. Politically, I don't see any signs that Ukraine can revive and become a normal state. This will be something very long, forever,” Karaganov said.
