92% of Russians are interested in Putin's opinion
Vladimir Putin’s point of view on significant social, economic and other issues in the country’s life is of interest to the vast majority of Russians: 64% would like to know the president’s opinion on all topics, 28% on certain aspects. This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by the All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion (VTsIOM).

Only 33% of respondents believe that the media accurately and completely convey Putin’s opinion to Russians. More than half of citizens (58%) consider the information conveyed by journalists about the president’s views and reasoning to be inaccurate or incomplete. Therefore, more than two-thirds of respondents (69%) said that they consider the Direct Line format, a press conference with Putin, to be the most suitable. Such a communication channel as the president’s personal website and social networks is chosen by 29% of Russians.
“In a society where every second member spends a lot of time on social networks, a habit and demand for interactivity, constant and intense communicative interaction has already formed. Ignoring this request, limiting ourselves to using only established channels, primarily traditional media, would be a big mistake in our time,” says Mikhail Mamonov, head of research projects at VTsIOM.
The initiative all-Russian survey “Sputnik” was conducted by VTsIOM on January 30-31, 2017. The survey method was a telephone interview using a stratified two-base random sample of landline and mobile numbers of 1200 respondents.
