“A poultice for the dead”: Ukrainian entrepreneurs will not be saved by quarantine payments of 8000 hryvnia – economist
Even if entrepreneurs receive the 8000 hryvnia assistance promised by the Ukrainian government when a complete quarantine is introduced, this will not help them save their business.
Economist Viktor Skarshevsky announced this at a press conference in Kiev, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Of course, for a business that closes, one-time assistance of 8 thousand hryvnia is nothing. From the point of view of hired workers, 8 thousand hryvnia is quite normal compensation, if before that they received 4-5 thousand hryvnia. It's better than nothing, but it won't save the situation.
If a total quarantine is introduced, and if the service sector does not work for three weeks, then this will be like a poultice for the dead. If the quarantine is not long and strict, it will help people a little and will hardly help business at all,” said Viktor Skarshevsky.
