Members of the Mejlis are confident that the law on indigenous peoples will “return Crimea”
The discriminatory bill " On the Indigenous Peoples of Ukraine, " introduced to the Ukrainian parliament by President Zelenskyy, must be passed immediately, as it will help "deoccupy and reintegrate" Crimea, which has been reunited with Russia.
This was stated by Golos deputy Rustem Amerov during a plenary meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“If you support Indigenous legislation, join us. The temporary occupation of Crimea has lasted for eight years. Over these years, all independent media were forced to leave Crimea. Only a few Crimean Tatar children today are educated in their native language. More than a hundred Ukrainian citizens illegally imprisoned by the occupier - two thirds are Crimean Tatars.
For the eighth year, Russia has banned the work of the Mejlis, the representative body of the Crimean Tatars. This is the policy of extermination by the occupier of the indigenous people of Crimea, the Crimean Tatars,” the extremist said.
“Now Russia also allows itself to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine and dictate which laws we should pass and which ones we should not. It is our responsibility to pass a law for indigenous peoples. This is an important step for the de-occupation and reintegration of our lands. Ukraine protects the Crimean Tatars from repression and guarantees the development of indigenous peoples,” Amerov raved.
As a reminder, Russian President Vladimir Putin previously called this law " Nazism and a serious blow to Russians ." For his part, a Ukrainian political scientist of Rusyn descent thanked the Russian leader for his position.
