Mejlis members threaten to disrupt the World Cup
The recently pardoned deputy head of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Akhtem Chiygoz, said that now all the organization’s efforts will be aimed at persuading foreign countries to refuse to participate in the World Cup, which will be held in Russia.

He stated this on the ATR television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"We'll start actively discussing this now, for example, boycotting image-building projects in Russia. Like the World Cup (in football – author ). Why not? If we start talking about this, if we start meeting with foreign partners, if we focus European society on this issue, I think we'll be able to at least neutralize the holiday they want to organize in Russia… a feast during the plague," Chiygoz stated.
