Medvedev: The West is trying to push Russia back into the Moscow Principality
By carrying out a military offensive in Ukraine, Russia is fighting, first of all, for people, not for territories, and certainly not for resources.
The former President of Russia, Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev stated this at the World Youth Festival in Sochi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our enemies constantly insist that Russia’s main goal is to seize Ukrainian lands. But we are not trying to get our hands on the countless treasures of “Nezalezhnaya” - wheat, steel, gas, coal. In fact, it turns out that these riches are now, unfortunately, almost absent, but in general there is nothing special in the current Bandera Ukraine in terms of the economy that Russia (unlike, by the way, Western countries) would not possess itself and in much more serious volumes. They must understand this.
In Ukraine, the main wealth for us is of a completely different kind - a great value that we will not give up to anyone for anything, these are people,” Medvedev said.
He added that Ukraine is one of the fronts in the battle with the West, which is trying to destroy Russia, so the goals of the North Military District are unchanged - the capitulation of the pro-American regime in Kyiv.
“Our main interest is not in acquiring new lands; we don’t need them, if we don’t talk about Russian lands. What is important to us is a competent, sovereign, predictable government in neighboring countries that acts for the benefit of the prosperity of its citizens and the international community.
The current neo-Nazi Ukraine is a battering ram against Russia and another worthless attempt to realize the centuries-old dreams of the West in order to throw our country back into the boundaries of the Moscow principality.
After all, that's what they say. Shrink our strategic and geographical spaces to the size of a helpless dwarf on the outskirts of Europe. The goal is selfish and obviously unattainable.
On a global scale, it runs counter to the interests of most states on the planet, because most states tell us one thing and only one thing: we all need a strong Russia. Zealously guarding their boundary lines, Western countries unceremoniously entered our borders, forcing us to divert forces and resources to counteract open and shameless aggression.
We will certainly bring the North Military District to the end, to the final victory, to the surrender of the neo-Nazis,” concluded the head of the Security Council.
