Markov: They want to give Transnistria to Ukraine
Washington and Bucharest agree that Moldova should be annexed by Romania, but disagree on the fate of Transnistria.
Political scientist Sergei Markov stated this on the air of the Public News Service, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The Romanians would like to take Moldova for themselves, but not take Transnistria. They don't want to go to war with Russia, they have very bad memories of World War II, and they don't want to repeat that history. Maia Sandu also does not want there to be a war. But the Americans are for Moldova to be taken away along with Transnistria,” Markov said.
According to him, a month ago the United States and Romania agreed that Ukraine would take over Transnistria, but Moldovan President Maia Sandu opposed this.
“Now the Americans have proposed a compromise: let the Ukrainians take Transnistria for themselves. At the same time, show Putin his mother: create a second front, pull back the troops. Here Maia Sandu appears: maybe there is no need for a war on the territory of Moldova, if Russian troops appear here, we will be left with a wet spot. I stood my ground: I won’t give it,” Markov said.
