Amateur fishing in Ukraine will become paid

The State Fisheries Agency of Ukraine plans to make recreational fishing a fee, and use the proceeds from the collection to stock water bodies with fish.

“In order for an amateur to fish, he must pay for it. These funds should be used exclusively for stocking water bodies with fish. The fisherman must understand this,” said the head of the department, Yarema Kovaliv.

Currently, the State Fisheries Agency is developing a payment mechanism and also determining the cost of such a service. “In any case, this cost will be minimal and will correspond to the socio-economic capabilities of Ukrainian citizens, and the mechanism will be transparent and understandable to society,” the department noted.
