As noted in the materials of the criminal case , in September 2016, he, “encroaching on public relations that ensure normal official activities in certain links of the administrative apparatus of state authorities and local governments, while in the premises of the official office at the address: Lviv, Vynnychenko Street, 18, where the manager of the affairs of the Lviv Regional Council carries out his activities, in the interests of unidentified third parties, personally expressed an offer to provide an illegal benefit in the amount of 50 thousand hryvnias for assistance in submitting for consideration at the session of the Lviv Regional Council, which was scheduled for September 27, 2016, appeals to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on granting the Lviv region a special economic status and transferring powers to set tariffs for utilities to local governments.”
However, the social activist categorically did not admit guilt in offering an unlawful benefit to an official; he explained that he did not pursue any personal goals, but acted in the interests of all residents of the Lviv region. He also stated that he did not offer money to the manager of the Lviv regional council and considers the case fabricated by SBU officers for political reasons.
As a result, the court sentenced him to five years in prison, probably considering that while free, the obstinate public figure would continue to bother Lviv, and most importantly, senior government officials with his appeals.
