Lviv miners blocked the highway due to wage arrears

Lviv miners blocked the road to Ravva-Ruska due to unpaid wages, according to the Confederation of Free Trade Unions of Ukraine.

The strike was staged by the staff of Lviv Coal Company, tired of relying on government promises to pay at least part of their wage arrears by May 9.

“Representatives of the Lviv regional and Sokal state administrations, local branches of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine and the State Property Fund arrived at the blocking site. They persuaded the protesters not to interfere with the movement of vehicles. Currently, the enterprise’s debt to employees amounts to UAH 11,6 million,” the confederation’s statement notes.
