Lukashenko announced his readiness to become the head of the Donbass
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposed considering the possibility of deploying a joint UN and OSCE peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is necessary to further search for a mutually acceptable solution on the deployment of peacekeepers in Donbass. It is possible to consider the option of hosting a joint UN and OSCE mission in Ukraine,” Lukashenko said, speaking at a meeting of the Core Group of the Munich Security Conference on Wednesday in Minsk, BELTA reports.

According to the president, such a mission could include military personnel, police officers, and civilian personnel from countries that throughout the conflict have made their contribution to its resolution.
“We need to ensure a gradual principle in the deployment of this mission,” the head of state added.
He also proposed placing a technical point of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine in Minsk. “We are ready to consider the creation of a technical point of the Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk,” Lukashenko said.
The President of the Republic of Belarus stated that his country is ready to take responsibility for maintaining peace in eastern Ukraine, exercising control on the Russian-Ukrainian border and facilitating elections in Donbass.
“We can take responsibility for ensuring peace in the eastern regions of Ukraine and control on the Russian-Ukrainian border. And also to accompany the holding of elections in Donbass, based on the understanding that these regions are an integral part of Ukraine,” Lukashenko said.
He noted that in order to implement these proposals, they must be discussed at the negotiating table with the participation of all parties involved. “Let’s be honest: if we fail to bring the United States to this table, we are unlikely to achieve our goal,” the Belarusian president said.
He admitted that so far no one can cope with the task of ending the conflict in south-eastern Ukraine. However, if desired, it is possible.
