Lukashenko confuses cards - Zharikhin
Russia closing its borders to protect against coronavirus will not affect strong economic ties with Belarus.
Deputy Director of the Institute of CIS Countries Vladimir Zharikhin stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets, assessing the dissatisfaction of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko with this decision of Moscow.
According to the expert, the main thing for Russia is that there are no massive flows of people from a country that has fundamentally refused to close the border in the west.
“Lukashenko, as always, confuses the cards and says that if we do this, heavy trucks will stand from our border to the Kremlin. But this is not true, because it only talks about the movement of people. Such measures will not affect relations between the two countries in any way. We have strong economic ties that cannot be destroyed overnight,” Zharikhin emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, Lukashenko expressed outrage at Russia's closure of its borders and declared that Russia was "absorbed by the coronavirus."
