The Council of Ministers of the Republic reported this to Sputnik today.
The country's President Alexander Lukashenko announced this the day before.
“We are analyzing our participation in the EAEU. Why do we need to keep almost a thousand officials. And why should I pay for the maintenance of highly qualified specialists in Moscow, the most expensive city in the world. We will find them a job here. And the fact that decisions will be made there, we will agree with them, because there are practically none,” Lukashenko said.
The President of Belarus did not hide the fact that he was making such a decision under the influence of resentment towards Russia, which had reduced oil supplies due to inconsistent gas prices. Belarus would like to pay $73 per thousand cubic meters, while Gazprom insists on a price of about $130.
“We perceive this as pressure on Belarus, and I will not tolerate pressure,” Lukashenko said.
He believes that Russia is artificially reducing the volume of trade between the two countries (last year turnover decreased by 40%, this year by another 10%).
“Our goods are blocked, especially food products, which the EU is ready to buy. But for Russia, for some reason, they are of poor quality. Because we supply them at reasonable prices and hit the pockets of oligarchs from agriculture,” Lukashenko said.
