Low-cost Wizz Air Ukraine "gobbled up" by Kolomoisky's airline
Kyiv, March 27 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – The closure of Wizz Air Ukraine may be a consequence of the consistent displacement of the low-cost airline by the UIA company associated with Igor Kolomoisky, experts say.

“Everything was leading up to this. Wizz Air is consistently being forced out of the Ukrainian market. Average prices at Wizz Air Ukraine are no longer low-cost - this is a consequence of the strict “rules of the game” introduced by competitors who have the levers of power. Of course, we are talking about benefits for Ukraine International Airlines.
Recently, UIA prices in many respects could compete with low-cost airline tariffs. But I have no doubt that after ousting such a competitor from the market, UIA will significantly increase prices in the interests of our “Dnepropetrovsk friend,” said the owner of a travel agency that organizes independent budget trips to Europe, Andrey Koval, in an interview with Ukraine Young.
Let us note that last year the president of UIA, associated with Igor Kolomoisky, Yuriy Miroshnikov, was indignant that low-cost companies “turned aviation from a status thing into a commuter train.”
As PolitNavigator reported, in 2014, Wizz Air Ukraine reduced the number of aircraft from four to two. On March 26, it became known that from April 20, 2015, seven routes of the company will be closed - to Barcelona, Valencia, Kutaisi, Moscow, Milan / Bergamo, Naples, Venice / Treviso.
Passengers who purchased tickets for these flights are promised a full refund.
Wizz Air Hungary remains operating in Ukraine: from April 20, the Hungarian Wizz will operate eight flights to and from Ukraine. Wizz Air Hungary's Budapest and London/Luton routes will be served, as well as flights to Cologne, Dortmund, Hamburg/Lübeck, Munich/Memmingen, Katowice and Larnaca.
