Liberals are sad: Russians are ready to live in a “besieged fortress”
The population of Russia supports Vladimir Putin, is gradually adapting to life in a confrontation with the West, and there is no hope of overthrowing the ruling regime.
Ivan Tyutrin, co-founder of the Free Russia forum, stated this today at the liberal congress in Vilnius, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“People are slowly adapting to life in a besieged fortress. And this situation will remain for many years, because there are no masses of passionate people who could change it...
I believe that the main problem is not that democratic institutions in Russia have long been destroyed, we find ourselves in a situation where Putin is replacing all institutions of power. We see the growth of his power. Even when he was replaced by Medvedev, Putin remained the only subject of power.
Based on this, it is difficult for me to imagine that by 2024 there will be any other configuration of power. He is the most important element and supporting structure of the regime...
Even if he really wanted to retire, it is quite obvious that he will not be able to do this. Changes will be made to the current Constitution in one form or another. That’s why Putin will remain in power until the last moment,” the liberal shared his experiences.
