Lavrov to Ukraine: This is not even advice, but a requirement
Ukraine should behave towards the LDPR in the same way as Moldova behaves towards Transnistria. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a press conference in Vienna.

“I also urge our Ukrainian colleagues not to skimp on their obligations, which are enshrined in the Minsk agreements, and, as Chisinau talks with Tiraspol, to start talking directly with Donetsk and Lugansk. This is not even advice, but a demand that was approved by the UN Security Council when we unanimously supported the Minsk agreements,” the minister said.
He recalled that progress had recently been made in the Transnistrian settlement, including the opening of the bridge across the Dniester and the reaching of agreements on a number of issues affecting the practical lives of citizens, including in the areas of education and mobile communications, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The document that we adopted today welcomes the tactics of “small steps”, holding a meeting in the “5+2” format at the end of this year. Today we can note the adoption of a statement on Transnistria, welcoming the progress achieved. In this regard, I note that progress was achieved due to the fact that Chisinau and Tiraspol directly agreed on specific steps designed to make the daily life of people in Transnistria and Moldova in general more comfortable and convenient,” Lavrov said.
