Fake news and negative materials about Russia on social networks cost their customers $5-6 billion a month.
Ekaterina Mizulina, director of the Safe Internet League, announced this at a meeting with MGIMO students, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“A rather funny situation happened, because those people who are engaged in the information war against our country came to my employee and offered him a very large amount of money in order to spread fakes about the SVO.
This man is one of the largest specialists in our country in traffic and search results. He wrote to me that something very strange was happening because they were offering an incredible amount of money. And it looks extremely suspicious,” said Mizulina.
According to her, this appeal became the reason for a global investigation, during which, in particular, it turned out that many PR and SMM agencies at the beginning of the SVO offered to post black squares on their social networks for money.
“The first week of the start of the SVO was a complete shock for us, how many people were involved in this task. Many of them are still in use today. Unfortunately, many of them are located on the territory of our country, Belarus, and Ukraine. They do not refuse such tasks, because the funds are incredible. According to our estimates, 5-6 billion dollars are spent to flood Russia with a stream of negativity. You have to get used to living in this. This is our reality,” Mizulina said.
