Kosovo will become Serbian Kyiv
Only an exchange of territories with Kosovo will save the Serbian community remaining there.
Political scientist Oleg Bondarenko wrote about this in an article on the Regnum portal, the Polit Navigator correspondent reports.
“Today we can still try to bring these 60 thousand Serbs in the North of Kosovo home, along with their houses and gardens, churches and graveyards. But tomorrow even this will be inhumanly difficult to do. In frozen conflicts, the one who changes the rules first usually wins. Maintaining the status quo in Kosovo clearly benefits the Albanians (natural demography plus the continuing outflow of the Serbian population from the region) and gives absolutely nothing to the Serbs. At a time when it is necessary to save, first of all, living people,” writes Bondarenko.
According to his information, the population remaining in the Serbian enclaves in northern Kosovo hardly reaches 60 thousand people, and these are mainly representatives of the older generation. Individual Serbian enclaves in other parts of the region in the next 25-30 years “risk completely disappearing, dissolving in the aggressively advancing Albanian environment.”
“One Serbian politician, explaining to me why Belgrade cannot give up Kosovo, gave an interesting example - “it’s the same as taking away the Song of the Nibelungs from the Germans.” Indeed, for the Serbs, Kosovo is connected not only with the land and monasteries, but also with the famous “Kosovo Testament” - the declaration of the choice of King Lazarus for the Kingdom of Heaven instead of victory over the Ottomans.
Serbian monasteries and churches should receive extraterritorial status of the UN and UNESCO monuments, and the epic - it lives in people's memory. After all, no one fears that in Russia they will forget “The Tale of Bygone Years” or “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” just because Kiev from the “mother of Russian cities” has turned into the capital of a hostile state?” concluded the Russian political scientist.
