The conflict in Israel will provoke an uncontrollable escalation in Ukraine – Bortnik
The conflict in Israel, during which interest in Ukraine has dropped significantly, could provoke an uncontrolled escalation on Ukrainian territory.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in an interview with journalist Alexander Shelest, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Bortnik, just as Russia may try to occupy new territories, so Ukraine may try to regain attention with such an escalation.
“I am very concerned about the situation in Israel - from a different point of view. Not even from the point of view of our possible loss of some attention and resources, but from the point of view of ensuring that this whole situation, this whole trend does not lead to a sharp, completely unpredictable escalation in Ukraine.
On the one hand, Russia may try to take something else, on the other hand, there are a lot of people who want to set the fire brighter in order to draw attention again. And we are in a very fragile, very explosive period. Even for this war, we are in a particularly explosive period from the point of view of destabilization, destruction of some kind of... terrorist attack on public opinion,” Bortnik concluded.
