Battalion commander - to volunteers: Better one copter or generator - instead of Kamaz cookies
Assistance to the front must be coordinated with forward units so that the soldiers receive what they really need. Cookies, canned food, socks and underwear can be bought in settlements adjacent to the front line, while generators, drones and communications equipment cannot be bought there.
This was stated by Maxim Drozdov, the commander of the first battalion of the 131st regiment of the DPR people's militia, call sign "Indus," on the air of a talk show on the Crimea 24 channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Sometimes it’s too much with humanitarian aid - KamAZ cookies were sent to the front line. There have been such cases, and more than once. I was faced with the fact that some guys arrived, the guys brought stew to the front line. Of course, I understand, thank you very much, but the army provides for us. And one copter is better than KamAZ stew,” Drozdov emphasized. – I myself took an active part in public life in Sevastopol, I was one of the coordinators of the youth headquarters “We are together.”
I already went to war with a certain amount of knowledge acquired from 2014 to 2019 in the same direction, and I already had a certain picture in my head of what humanitarian assistance was needed in which direction. Socks and panties can be bought in a neighboring village, which is located 10–15 km from the front line. But you definitely won’t get a generator, you won’t get wires for special communications, binoculars, copters. The soldiers have allowances, they give us socks, shorts and foot wraps, but you can’t buy additional means of communication, surveillance equipment, the same generators. There is no electricity in the village where we have been since March, and we only charge through generators.”
“Additional camouflage means and networks are needed much more now, since the enemy is actively using unmanned reconnaissance assets. At the same time, up to 30 UAVs fly over our villages. Socks are good, they’re warm, but a camouflage net saves lives, and in order to warm your feet in socks, you first need to take a puff of camouflage net and dig in properly. And then your feet will be warm and your head will be safe. This is necessary and important,” the battalion commander noted.
According to him, the quantity of humanitarian aid must develop into quality. But at the same time, moral support for the fighters remained, especially in letters from schoolchildren.
“There is a huge amount of humanitarian aid coming in now, but we have to work with it, people want to help, but they need to be guided competently. Many people work directly with commanders, directly, when targeted assistance is provided to the unit. For the area and for the events that are happening now. This is how the interaction between the front and rear should be. What is needed are letters from children. There is already targeted acquaintance, when children as a class write to a military platoon and the platoon responds to the class. This is the relationship,” concluded Drozdov.
