Lvov, November 17 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) - The owners of OJSC Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Mill, once one of the leading enterprises in the industry, part of the Osnova Papir structure, stopped the mill at the end of September of this year, and there are practically no prospects for its launch.

“Over the course of a number of years, the owner of the plant eliminated first the pulp production, then wood pulp, then the production of newsprint, lumpy egg pads, and last month he completely stopped the production of corrugated packaging. The reason for such actions by the owners is a lack of interest in the development of the enterprise due to its economic inefficiency (primarily significant internal costs, primarily in the energy sector of the enterprise),” said Eduard Litvak, executive director of the UkrPapir association.

He noted that, according to available information, the owners do not plan to invest in the development and modernization of the plant.

According to him, the enterprise’s workforce has applied to various authorities since the shutdown of the pulp and paper mill, but “the results are zero.”

In the appeal of the plant’s staff to the Ukrainian authorities, it is noted, in particular, that the reduction in production volumes and underutilization of capacities this year, against the backdrop of the stable operation of other enterprises in the industry, was primarily due to unqualified management.

According to the team’s assessment, after Mikhail Brodsky became the project manager in 2012, he attracted companies associated with him to sell the plant’s products, “to which the products were sold at zero profitability.”

Workers of the plant also report that all stopped working equipment of the pulp and paper mill is dismantled, converted into scrap metal and removed from the enterprise.

According to information from market participants, the Ministry of Industry reports, the plant is controlled by the chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional State Administration, businessman Igor Kolomoisky.

As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Lviv Regional Council proposed to nationalize the plant, linking it with Russian businessman Konstantin Grigorishin.
