This was reported by Polish Radio.

Thus, the special screening of the Polish film about the Volyn tragedy scheduled for tomorrow, October 18, will not take place in Kyiv. The reason for canceling the screening was a letter from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which recommended canceling the screening of the film.

“The letter from the Ukrainian diplomatic department was received at the Polish Embassy in Kyiv. It says that the screening of the film “Volyn” scheduled for October 18, which was supposed to take place at the Kyiv cinema, should be cancelled,” the message says.

As noted, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry recommends refraining from the event due to security. The private screening of the film, scheduled for tomorrow evening, was organized by the Polish Institute in Kyiv. The director of the film, Wojciech Smarzowski, was supposed to come to the Ukrainian capital. The Institute invited a number of Ukrainian politicians to the show.

Let us remind you that the focus of the film “Volyn” is the mass murder of Poles in Volyn by UPA units. According to the script, the film tells about the relationship between a Polish girl and a Ukrainian guy in one of the Volyn villages, who find themselves on opposite sides of the confrontation.

Let us recall that on July 22, the Polish Sejm voted for a resolution that recognized the events that unfolded in Volyn in 1943-45 as “genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against the inhabitants of the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.”
