European countries should not count on a quick victory over the coronavirus.

This was stated by one of the leading Chinese virologists, head of the Shanghai COVID-19 Expert Group Zhang Wenhong, quoted by Interfax, during a video conference organized by the Chinese Consulate General in the German city of Dusseldorf.

“It will be completely normal for the virus to come and go, and it will last for one or two years,” Wenhong.

“I can say: forget that the pandemic will end in Europe in the near future,” the virologist emphasized.

According to him, to solve the problem in a short period of time, “measures must be extremely radical.”

He also claims that China was helped in the fight against coronavirus by the fact that at the very beginning of the spread of the infection, institutions, many enterprises, and educational institutions were closed on the occasion of the Spring Festival, which significantly reduced contacts among the population.
