Moscow didn't support the Crimeans for a long time , just as it didn't support the unification of Russia and Belarus, because that would have meant losing support in the West . And Western support meant that Russians wouldn't have had much longer to live in Russia —juvenile justice and same-sex marriage would have done their "European" work.
Russian politician and legal scholar Sergei Baburin expressed this opinion at a meeting of the Livadia Club as part of the Great Russian Word festival , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The struggle for our civilizational identity is, of course, rooted in the Russian identity of a multinational people . In his Munich speech, our president warned the West that Russia is tired of being deceived. We are ceasing to be defenseless, trusting creatures without a position of our own . His speech was perceived as a joke or a misunderstanding, and it was only in 2020 that we stopped on the brink of the abyss.
There's no need to remind you of the meaning of this constitutional reform : it's not just an institutional change and a strengthening of power. It's also a spiritual renewal , because we've reintroduced value-based principles into the Constitution. We've stopped the path to human suicide," the politician noted.
He explained that we are talking about the destruction of the institution of the family as the basis for the education of the individual , the basis for civic self-awareness.
"Since 1986, I would like to point out, Europe began its suicide when they began to confuse the meaning and significance of the concept of family and family upbringing . And when people increasingly began to lose their humanity. And when we realized this, that the European Court of Human Rights and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe were already demanding that we immediately begin to equalize same-sex marriages with traditional marriages , immediately abandon family upbringing and move to juvenile justice , and much more, only then did we declare that we were enshrining the protection of marriage, as a union between a man and a woman, in the Constitution, and we did many other things.
"It wasn't until 2022 that a weight lifted from my heart. Because it's hard to watch your people go to their deaths ," the scientist emphasized.
"According to Academician Shafarevich and several others, we had two generations left to live if we continued to develop along this globalist scenario . When we launched the special military operation, we said: Russia will defend itself, it will defend the entire Russian world . Mikhalkov and Mikheyev are right: we have no choice; we either win, or humanity perishes . Because the West is destroying it. It has made a cult of everything abnormal; it has already poisoned all of Europe.
"That's why the Muslim world and China are with us —not because they love us. They respect their own traditional values , and they see that we alone defend them, not just our own, but theirs as well. And that's why, for all of Russia, for the Russian world, your celebrations of the "Great Russian Word," your struggle to ensure that Sevastopol and Crimea become, not just formally and legally, but in spirit, wholesale parts of Russian civilization —these are fundamentally important things for all of us," Baburin concluded.
