Chisinau is ready to switch from Ukraine to Romania
The Moldovan Ministry of Energy is considering storing gas not in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities (UGS), but in Romanian ones, if the infrastructure in Ukraine is completely destroyed by the Russian army.
Moldovan Energy Minister Viktor Parlicov stated this in an interview with TV8, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“So far, what we see is that European companies continue. We are currently pumping out from there, and there are no problems with pumping out. Everything is fine, gas is flowing, the required volumes are being supplied. We don't have any problems. But we understand that this is a war, and different things can happen. It is not a fact that we will pump it into Ukrainian storage facilities. There are also Romanian storage facilities, although they also have their own limitations,” Parlicov said.
Over the past week, a number of Naftogaz Ukraine facilities, including underground gas storage facilities, have been attacked. Part of the company's capacity stopped working due to a lack of electricity due to attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
