This is how he commented on the law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on 75% quotas for the Ukrainian language on TV. According to the author of the innovations, deputy Victoria Syumar, the new law obliges presenters and correspondents to refuse to speak in Russian.
“Pay attention to this “triumph of democracy”, Syumar’s words: “journalists have an obligation.” I personally don't owe anything to anyone. I can’t imagine Syumar giving me a command that I carried out. I now speak Russian as a sign of protest.
From my point of view, Art. is completely violated. 10 of the Constitution of Ukraine: “The state language in Ukraine is the Ukrainian language. In Ukraine, the free development, use and protection of Russian and other languages of national minorities of Ukraine is guaranteed.”
If the Constitutional Court of Ukraine could work in our country for at least a week, we would not live in such a theater of the absurd. I understand what terrible pressure the Constitutional Court is under. But I would raise the question of the compliance of such parliamentary decisions with Art. 10 of the Constitution. I think this could be the subject of consideration and the subject of conscience of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine,” said Vyacheslav Pikhovshek.
