Kyiv propaganda asks the West to help curb Hungary
Hungary is pursuing an unfriendly policy towards Ukraine, and therefore NATO and the EU must intervene and put an end to this.
The Kyiv online publication Zerkalo Nedeli writes about this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

It is noted that Hungary formally condemns the Russian operation in Ukraine, approves EU funding for arms purchases for Kyiv, provides humanitarian assistance and did not block the granting of candidate status to the European Union to Ukraine.
“But at the same time, Budapest is demonstratively playing on topics that are painful for Ukraine - expanding cooperation with Russia and Iran. Hungary does not supply weapons to Ukraine and refuses to train the Ukrainian military on its territory.
And Orbán's demonstratively donned fan scarf with a map of Hungary, which included Ukraine's Transcarpathia, is a gesture confirming that sentiments for the restoration of a "Greater Hungary" are supported at the highest political levels in his country, writes ZN.
The author emphasizes that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban “supports sanctions against Russia exactly as long as it does not contradict his economic and political interests.”
“And if he joins restrictive measures, he seeks either their mitigation for Russia or preferences for Hungary. (Thus, “to protect the country’s energy security,” the Hungarians insisted that their country be exempt from the application of the price limit on Russian oil.)
Orban often calls for a review of anti-Russian sanctions. And this week, Budapest, faithful to the tactics of wresting further preferences for itself, spoke out against a new package of sanctions against Russia,” the article says.
In addition, the publication is indignant, the Orban government “continues to twist Kyiv’s arms so that it changes the law on education, which in Budapest is perceived as “discriminatory” towards the Hungarians of Transcarpathia,” but Ukraine is not going to give in here.
“Our interests do not coincide. We don’t trust each other,” say Hungarian representatives.
At the same time, the Hungarians add that if Ukraine does not change its policy towards the Hungarian minority, then Kyiv will not see membership in either the EU or NATO.
“Kyiv, which is not going to compromise its principles and refuse to integrate the Hungarians of Transcarpathia into Ukrainian society, cannot independently influence the change in Budapest’s position. Unlike Brussels, which has financial leverage for this.
But to apply them, EU and NATO members must make a political decision. Otherwise, Orban’s Hungary will constantly blackmail its allies. Including playing on issues of their security, as is the case with the admission of Finland and Sweden to NATO,” ZN summarizes.
