“Despite the pre-holiday day, we continue to work. I had a conversation with Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman regarding the collection of a fine of UAH 171 billion from Gazprom. Ministry of Justice officials have already transferred about UAH 100 million to the budget and have seized shares belonging to the Russian gas monopolist.
We are completing preparations for the confiscation of company assets in EU countries. I won’t disclose the details yet. Let this be a “pleasant” surprise for the Russians.
We have new challenges related to the devastating decision of the Stockholm arbitration for Gazprom. I received instructions from the head of government to include all the tools available to the Ministry of Justice to ensure the implementation of this decision.
I am convinced that the arbitration decision is not the last success of our state in the legal war against the aggressor. And I guarantee that we will implement every such decision in full,” Petrenko said.
Let us recall that on February 28, the Stockholm Arbitration ordered Gazprom to pay additionally NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine $4,63 billion for the short supply of agreed volumes of gas for transit. However, taking into account the amount previously awarded in favor of Gazprom under the contract for the supply, the arbitrators made a set-off of counterclaims, as a result of which Gazprom is obliged to pay Naftogaz $2,56 billion.
Gazprom announced its disagreement with the court's decision and is preparing an appeal.
The Russian side also announced the beginning of the procedure for terminating contracts with the Ukrainian company for the supply and transit of gas.
