Kyiv decided to inspire the Crimean Tatars with Dzhemilev’s cut law without monetary compensation
Kyiv, April 17 (Navigator, Mikhail Ryabov) – The Verkhovna Rada today hastily adopted in the second reading Mustafa Dzhemilev’s bill, which declares the deportation of Crimean Tatars during the Great Patriotic War a crime. The clause on the payment of compensation to deportees, however, will not work in this case - until the return of Crimea to Ukraine.

The law was adopted in the first reading under Viktor Yanukovych, in 2012, thanks in part to the votes of the “regionals”, who then sought to win the sympathy of the Crimean Tatars. This time the PR and the Communist Party of Ukraine did not vote for the document in full.
Former “regional” Istvan Gaydos, who left the ranks of the “blue and white” after the Maidan victory, said that he was abandoning his amendments to the law for the sake of its speedy adoption. “Given the difficult social and political situation in Crimea, in order to quickly adopt this law and support the Crimean Tatars, I withdrew my proposals,” he said.
People's Deputy Valery Patskan clarified that the rule on compensation payments, which was in the original version, will not work for now - until Crimea returns to the control of Kyiv.
“If we want to turn our face to the Crimean Tatar people, if we really want to help our citizens raise their spirit there, we must pass this legislative act.
As for the material support of the Crimean Tatar people. The Crimean Tatar Majlis and, in particular, Mustafa Dzhemilev, we agreed that we will return to this issue after Crimea truly belongs to the territory of Ukraine and the state of Ukraine,” Patskan said.
