If Russia had sent troops to Ukraine in 2014, they would have been greeted with bread and salt by half the population of Kharkov and 70% of the residents of Odessa.

Russian liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this on the air of the internet channel Vlast vs Vlashchenko, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the expert, this was prevented by the intervention of the United States of America in the process.

“The United States defended Ukraine’s state sovereignty in 2014, when Russia seriously encroached on it. If it were not for the position of the United States and Barack Obama personally, and not Donald Trump, who was not in the highest position at that time, Russia would have sent in troops. I was then in Ukraine, moving from one city to another, from Kharkov to Odessa. And he moved with one single purpose - to find out if Russian troops entered, what kind of support they would receive. Let’s just say that in Kharkov 50%, in Odessa 70% of the population would come out to greet Russian troops with bread and salt,” Belkovsky said.
