Communication disaster: Kiev newspaper writes about the “agreement” between MTS and its Ukrainian subsidiary

The Kiev newspaper “Den” writes about this, commenting on the results of “Black Tuesday” for long-term subscribers of the operator.
“Since the MTS-Ukraine network has recently been acquired by the MTS-Russia network, now MTS-Russia, whose SIM cards are being distributed with great zeal by the Crimean authorities, will operate on its frequencies. First of all, Deputy Prime Minister of the Crimean government and concurrently Minister of Communications Dmitry Polonsky advocates for their purchase and advertises K-Telecom as “communications of the XNUMXst century,” the publication notes.
Meanwhile, Den emphasizes, MTS-Ukraine officially expresses bewilderment and pretends not to understand what happened:
“However, many MTS-Ukraine subscribers do not believe this official explanation and claim that an “ordinary agreement” took place between the “owner” MTS-Russia and the “daughter” MTS-Ukraine. This is evidenced by the fact that the operator K-Telecom received from the State Commission for Radio Frequencies of Russia the frequencies previously used by the Ukrainian subsidiary of MTS. After Crimea switched to payments in rubles from June 1, 2014, MTS-Ukraine, being a Ukrainian company, was unable to continue making payments in hryvnias,” the author of the publication reflects.
The situation is somewhat clarified by the fact that the owner (ultimate beneficiary) of the K-Telecom operator remains unknown.
“In the system of Russian registration of legal entities (USRLE), there is an entry about K-Telecom, registered in Krasnodar on May 23, 2014, whose activity is stated to be “telephone communications.” This company is 100% owned by the Armenian Sell Group Worldwide Holding CJSC and is managed by Boris Borunov. Oddly enough, previously a man named Boris Borunov, well known to everyone in Crimea, worked as the director of the Crimean territorial department of MTS-Ukraine. If this is the same person, then we can talk about a banal betrayal of the interests of users,” states Den.
