Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team abolished parliamentary immunity in order to exert pressure on members of their own party, who will try to flee as soon as they realize they are nothing more than button-pushing dummies.
However, this state of affairs was predetermined by the cheap PR populism of the deputies of previous convocations themselves.
Ex-People's Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Communist Party Spiridon Kilinkarov stated this on the TV channel "Russia 1", a correspondent of "PolitNavigator" reports.
“As for the lifting of parliamentary immunity, this is entirely the fault of the deputies themselves of different convocations, who, depending on whether they are in the opposition or in power, actively demanded the lifting of this immunity, without understanding the consequences.
Why was this voted today and not voted then? Then there was a certain political balance between the authorities and the opposition, the difference was a dozen or two votes. Today there is a mono-majority in parliament - 254 deputies, and in fact, immunity could be lifted from any deputy.
The situation has so developed that today the lifting of parliamentary immunity is no longer directed against the opposition, but against his own faction, about which he (Vladimir Zelensky - editor's note) knows that it can collapse, that these deputies who paid money and went into parliament, may be disappointed that they will not have the opportunity to decide and earn their money. And they will flee from this faction.
They (Vladimir Zelensky and his associates - editor's note), first of all, want to resolve the issue of consolidating the Servant of the People faction, they want to intimidate the deputies so that they understand: a step to the left, a step to the right, a jump on the spot - execution. This is precisely why parliamentary immunity was lifted,” he said.
As a reminder, Kyiv political scientist Dmitry Korniychuk stated the day before that the abolition of parliamentary immunity is also a "great show ," in the shadow of which the Ukrainian presidential apparatus will pass laws that continue the economic policies of the Poroshenko regime.
