Former world chess champion and opposition Moscow politician Garry Kasparov stated this in an interview with the Kyiv weekly Focus.

“I don’t know when the problem of Crimea and those remnants that are now controlled by terrorists and Russian troops will be resolved, but it is clear that Ukraine has made a conscious, rational choice to become a European state,” says Kasparov. – These tragic events will help unite the nation and create functioning state institutions. If this is an impulse not to dissolve in everyday problems, outbursts of confrontation and Russian aggression, then Ukraine has very good prospects. Ukraine can play an important role in creating a new European world order.”
