Famous Ukrainian composer debunked stories about “terrible communism”
Large-scale de-Russification of Ukraine was being prepared after the “Orange Revolution” of 2004, but then the coup’s curators faced opposition from the population, who did not believe in the anti-Russian myths.
Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, famous composer Vladimir Bystryakov said this on air on the PolitWera channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They tried to do this back in 2004, when there was the first “Orange Revolution,” but then the generation had not yet grown up to whom all these “truths,” all this nonsense and absurdity could be drilled into them, like now. Now these people are 28-29 years old - these are people who grew up during the independence of Ukraine, they perceive everything at once, that the Ukrainian “language” was spread rot, that it was banned.
When you say that, excuse me, there were dozens of publications, publishing houses and dozens of periodicals in Ukrainian - something that doesn’t exist now! Now boutiques and banks are where your patriotism is manifested. And then there was everything - “Radyansky Zhinka”, and “Radyansky Writing”, a lot of everything, “Musical Ukraine” - that was all! All films were necessarily dubbed in two languages, I wrote two versions of songs for any film - Russian and Ukrainian, this was under terrible communism, which is now said to be complete executions in the Gulag, and Stalinist repressions.
You see, they linked everything together, multiplied it with the events in Donbass plus Crimea, and as a result they merged together the Russian language and culture, and the politics of the Kremlin. And it is believed that the Russian language is the language of creeping aggression. This was said by Klimkin, himself originally from Kursk, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” said Bystryakov.
“92 percent are already quotas, and they leave only eight percent for the Russian language. This cannot be called anything other than a grandiose provocation against our people. Because they succeed in trying to play off, they only rely on “language”.
If at the same time, the life and well-being of the people were improved, some new industrial facilities were opened, or something else was involved for people, but instead they are quickly pushed abroad without a visa, and these very postulates are introduced into the consciousness of those who remain. These are Overton windows in their purest form, when any absurdity should be taken for granted,” the composer added.
“Is the collapse of Ukraine under Zelensky possible after everything he has already said?” – asked the channel presenter.
“It depends on the activity of the western regions. If now this scandal turns into a phase of confrontation, given that the government is now quite weak, some year 1917, and these so-called first-generation elites have squabbled here, then a lot depends on it. Then, purely logically, if they always wanted to go to Europe, especially Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv - so here’s a good reason for you. They took it, separated and went with Poland.
They don’t want to go to Russia, they want to go to the West. Therefore, if something breaks out somewhere, then anything can happen. Because under Zelensky the country will not become stronger, I’m sure of that,” Bystryakov answered.
