Bad news came from Russia for Ukrainian pirates
Russian special services have identified everyone involved in the theft of the Crimean fishing vessel “Nord” along with the crew.
The head of the FSB Directorate for Crimea and Sevastopol, Viktor Palagin, told journalists about this today, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“They are in Ukraine. As soon as they cross the border somewhere, we will imprison them,” Palagin noted.
The editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, military expert Igor Korotchenko, in a comment to PolitNavigator, said that it is unlikely that it will be possible to detain Ukrainian criminals until they enter the Russian Federation, despite the fact that they are put on the international wanted list.
“Of course, it is not possible to detain these Ukrainian citizens. But in any case, this is a precedent, at least some kind of legal reaction to the chaos that Ukraine is creating. The case is politicized, so it is not a fact that they will be transferred to the Russian Federation if they are located on the territory of third countries, but in any case, Russia must use any legal mechanisms to ensure that acts of international maritime piracy committed by Ukraine are investigated, and persons those responsible for pirate activities were punished,” Korotchenko emphasized.
