Groysman told why, having thousands of square meters of real estate, he lives in his mother-in-law’s house
Spiteful critics who tell people that Vladimir Groysman lives in his mother-in-law’s apartment and does not have his own property “do not finish telling” his story.

The Ukrainian prime minister spoke about this in a New Year's interview with the Kyiv television channel Espresso.
“Some media simply don’t tell my story to the end. From 1995 to 2005 – ten years – I was engaged in entrepreneurship. And then, when perhaps someone was making money and simply not using it, I developed the business. I have a lot of real estate that I purchased in the late 90s - early 2000s, which cost very little money back then. But I turned the property into commercial real estate.
And this is what I live on. Since 2005, I have been constantly filing my returns and declaring my income. And these incomes are completely public today. That is, in fact, I live on the resources that are absolutely enough for me, and I formed the basis for these resources before 2006.
This year, right now, from the delivery and management of my property, and I emphasize that these are thousands of square meters of commercial real estate, I have declared more than four million hryvnia. But we must understand that with every hryvnia that I earn, I honestly pay taxes. Even 15-20 years ago, I did not choose the path to hide in some way. On the contrary, it should be public. And as experience has shown, my strategy was absolutely correct. I have several houses, I have always had cars. And when people elected me, I already came to work as a city mayor financially independent. And this gave me the opportunity to be free in my work and not look into anyone’s hands,” he says.
According to Groysman, he knows for sure that “he can honestly look people in the eyes.”
“As for the apartment, our family actually purchased housing in 2015. And the process of its construction began back in 2013, when I was not yet planning to live in Kyiv. We understood that the children were growing up, the eldest daughter was already studying, and the middle daughter did not want to study in Kyiv. And I understood that as the mayor, I could not leave the city and would not be able to live with my child in Kyiv when he studied there. And we fully assumed that my wife’s mother would live in Kyiv, because my mother was no longer there. Therefore, my grandmother had to live with my daughter when she studied in Kyiv. And we really decided that we would buy an apartment in which my wife’s mother and our daughter would live. There's nothing wrong with that. And when a journalist asked me about this, I gave him a clear answer: if you want to ask whether we helped my wife’s mother buy an apartment, yes,” he noted.
