The Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to lobby for recognition of Kosovo by Greece in order to promote economic cooperation and create a climate for investors.
This was announced at a joint press conference by representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kosovo and Greece.
As reported by PolitNavigator , Berat Rukići, Chairman of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said his Greek counterpart has committed to lobbying for Kosovo's recognition, just as he once lobbied for Greece's Prespa Agreement with North Macedonia. After meeting with the Greek delegation, he said the meeting was particularly important for trade between the two countries and for joint access to third markets.
“This visit has given new impetus in terms of improving economic cooperation, especially with projects planned in the near future in the energy sector. In fact, this is the highest visit of an EU economic delegation to us, which shows the importance Greece attaches to economic relations with Kosovo,” Rukici added.
Also, the head of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry noted that recognition of the region’s independence by Athens “will help eliminate many of the dilemmas of Greek investors.”
The Chairman of the Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Konstantinos Michalos, in turn, said that good economic cooperation also requires good political cooperation. Therefore, he will be committed to ensuring that Greece recognizes Kosovo.
“The fact that the new prime minister will visit Greece in July as a participant in a conference organized by the Economist magazine is an important step and we will monitor the situation closely,” Michalos added.
Let us recall that according to the Prespa Agreement of 2018, Macedonia was renamed North Macedonia, after which Athens stopped creating obstacles for this country to join NATO.
