The Russian State Duma today passed in the first reading a bill deferring the issuance of compulsory motor vehicle liability insurance policies for vehicles entering the Russian Federation from the LPR/DPR and Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The document was initiated by the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin.
“What is revolutionary about this bill? He goes to meet refugees from Ukraine and the LDPR. Our business community - the Union of Auto Insurers - takes on the risks associated with the fact that if one of these people causes an accident in their car with Ukrainian license plates, then the Union of Insurers will pay compensation to the injured party from its own funds,” said Zatulin. .
The bill gives the right of deferment to persons who urgently enter the territory of the Russian Federation in personal transport, upon registration of compulsory motor liability insurance for a period of 10 calendar days from the date of entry. These citizens will be able to cross the border from the Russian Federation without having a compulsory motor liability insurance policy. At the same time, this category of citizens is not relieved of the obligation to issue an MTPL policy after the expiration of the proposed period.
