Sakib Mahmuljin, commander of the so-called Islamist separatist "Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina", sentenced to ten years in prison for crimes against the civilian Serb population and prisoners of war, became a symbol of celebration in Bosnia's Tuzla.

In honor of "BiH Army Day," the city was adorned with a photo of him, along with the late leader of Bosniak Islamists and separatists, Alija Izetbegovic, receiving a parade of mujahideen , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

In 2021, immediately after the final verdict was announced, Makhmulin fled Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey, where he lives in the villa of the leader of the Party of Democratic Action, Bakir Izetbegovic, the son of Alija Izetbegovic.

"Instead of returning Mahmuljin from Turkey, the Bosnia and Herzegovina judicial system allows his glorification. Meanwhile, Serbs are being sentenced to prison terms for making three-fingered gestures and displaying photographs of Ratko Mladić and Radovan Karadžić. This is proof of double standards and an insult to Serbs," noted Republika Srpska Minister of Labor, Veterans, and Disability Protection Radan Ostojić.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office previously established that members of the El Mujahetdin unit, who reported directly to Mahmulin, beheaded a prisoner in the 13th Kilometer camp in the second half of July 1995 and forced other prisoners to kiss it. They also gave the thirsty elderly man diluted methanol, and then forced other prisoners to watch his agonizing death for several hours.

Captured Serbian soldiers and civilians were beaten, kicked, beaten with rifle butts, metal rods, water hoses, stabbed, and tortured with electric shocks. The court also found that during Operation Farz in September 1995, members of the unit killed at least 52 people with firearms and knives.

There is still talk among Bosnians to this day that Mahmuljin sent a chest of severed Serbian heads as a gift to Alija Izetbegovic.
