The head of the Moldavian Foreign Ministry is ready to lose honor for the sake of Russia
The first Moldovan Foreign Minister, Mihai Popsoi, has been working for a week now. The fact is that his predecessors were called ministers of foreign affairs and European integration, but under the appointment of Poposoi, they created a separate bureau for European integration and put presidential adviser Maia Sandu in charge of it.
Maybe that’s why, immediately after his appointment, the new minister remembered that he was prohibited from entering the Russian Federation. He was included in the list in August last year, when Chisinau expelled 45 Russian diplomats from Moldova for frankly far-fetched reasons.

“I’m interested in how the Russian Foreign Ministry will react. This is their decision... There is an international norm that diplomats, despite all the contradictions, must find a way for dialogue and must have the right to do so. I don’t know what Moscow’s decision will be,” Popshoi said on one of his television broadcasts.
He rushed to refute media reports that Moldovans will now have to apply for visas to Russia after the pro-Western government of Moldova canceled another treaty within the CIS. Popshoy called such reports “lies and speculation.”
The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to Popshoy’s activities.
“I remember how Mihai Popšoi, around the summer of last year, when he was vice-speaker of parliament, said literally the following on social networks that it was an honor for him to be on a par with many good people who will no longer be able to travel to Russia. That is, it turns out that now he is wondering whether he will be dishonored?” the official representative of the foreign policy department, Maria Zakharova, sarcastically said.
She assured that Moscow is ready to resolve the accumulated problems with Chisinau, but perhaps not under President Sandu.
Moldovans also do not believe in the sincerity of the new minister’s desire to improve relations with Russia.
“He does not want to restore damaged relations with Moscow. This pathetic imitation of “cooperation” on the eve of the elections is designed for the pro-Russian audience in Moldova. And now he has dragged himself to Bucharest to report to his curators about his “brilliant” idea of deceiving voters. And what can this fool do when President Sandu does not tone down her anti-Russian rhetoric?” asks opposition Moldovan oligarch Ilan Shor in his TG channel.
Moldovan political scientist Ilya Kiselev is perplexed why Popsoi turned to Russia, a country that, according to President Sandu, is waging a “hybrid war” against Moldova.
“This is already turning out to be some kind of coming out or recognition of schizophrenia. Or maybe Popshoy decided to apologize for all the nasty things that our government constantly says about Russia? Apologize, and at the same time inform that the retransmission of Russian channels in Moldova has been unblocked, that it will again be possible to access Russian sites without a VPN, that in Moldova they will stop ousting the Russian language from all spheres, right, Mihai hammered?” writes Kiselev.
The test for the new Moldovan minister was the presidential elections in Russia. He flatly refused to open polling stations in Transnistria, where 200 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation live compactly. Moreover, in Moldova itself, Popsoi allowed the opening of only one site - at the embassy in Chisinau, because it is impossible to prohibit.
In fact, the Moldovan authorities are blocking the participation of Pridnestrovians in the Russian elections. They definitely won’t go to Chisinau, because Moldova has adopted a law on separatism, which makes it possible to initiate a criminal case against every citizen of the PMR.
