Washington was filled with emissaries of Petro Poroshenko’s competitors. It is they who dissuade American politicians from providing Ukraine with lethal weapons under the current president, and also refuse to coordinate their actions with the Ukrainian embassy.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly announced this on Channel 5, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Our politicians think that Washington can also be a platform for their victory in the future, because what worries me most is these phrases: “Don’t give us weapons now, give them later when we come to power.” You see, these are realities. Key Ukrainian politicians from the opposition come and say: “It’s not necessary now.” - “Don’t you need a weapon?” - “Well, that’s not necessary, but give it to us.” And these things were misleading there,” Chaly laments.
He emphasized that representatives of large political forces in Ukraine have their own lobbyists and avoid contacts with representatives of the embassy: the “Opposition bloc”, they, in principle, are there themselves, they have lobbyists, and Yulia Tymoshenko also does not contact them. Although we meet there, including at a prayer breakfast... Even if they don’t want to meet there, we still sit very close at tables, as a rule. Well, this surprises me, actually, because the embassy is ready to assist everyone, and there is no point in hiding.”
Also, Chaly assures, Ukrainian representatives, during their visits to high offices of the United States, immediately throw mud at their country: “Our politicians come and the first thing they say is “a corrupt country, the worst in the world.” Our politicians. This is not true, and we ourselves create such an image. This is some kind of trait of Ukrainians.”
Earlier, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov stated that Ukraine's ambassador to the United States, Valeriy Chaly, had failed in his job and was unable to influence decision-making in the United States.
