The authorities of Sevastopol must prioritize the fight for proper garbage collection in the city. Russian President Vladimir Putin set this direction in his recent address to the Federal Assembly. For Sevastopol, this is especially important in the face of criticism of Clean City LLC, which is responsible for cleaning the city.

As political scientist Boris Mezhuev said in a commentary to PolitNavigator, an enterprise that receives significant amounts of money for cleaning every month should be fined if Sevastopol residents are not satisfied with the results of the company’s work.

“We need to fine, what else can be done. Because the president set in his message an important task - to fight garbage, and this has almost become some kind of national program. Therefore, naturally, organizations that act in violation of the presidential message should be fined. The United Russia party, naturally, should take this particular task as a priority, because it was set as such by the head of state. Let’s hope that the current city leadership or some other will also make this a priority,” said Mezhuev.

PolitNavigator has already reported that the problem of cleaning public spaces in Sevastopol has worsenedactivists have criticized the work of the "Clean City" company , which is associated with the family of LDPR Legislative Assembly deputy Ilya Zhuravlev.

The position of the Zhuravlevs’ company runs counter to the party line. So, the other day, speaking from the podium, State Duma deputy from the LDPR Igor Toroschin said that his political force insists on solving garbage problems, and also mentioned “murky” companies operating in the regions.

“Thank you to the president for once again listening to the Liberal Democratic Party and, during his address to the Federal Assembly, setting specific tasks for all government bodies to solve the problem of garbage reform. In many regions, the chosen operators are shady companies that do not have their own facilities, their own equipment, basic specialists, or even garbage cans. The situation became especially acute at the beginning of 2019, when the streets of our cities and our villages were just garbage...

What is happening in some regions is that in rural areas, large families say that they are thinking of sending their children to orphanages, because where there are 6-7 children, it is an unbearable burden for them to pay another one and a half to two thousand rubles for garbage. Social tension is created in the regions. People are outraged by their living conditions,” said Toroschin.

An LDPR- affiliated firm has been fined for poor garbage collection in Sevastopol.
