F-16? The USA is clearing the way for the F-35 – Romanenko
The United States used the war in Ukraine to make a number of profitable deals for itself.
Kiev political scientist Yuri Romanenko, who was put on the wanted list by Russia for calls to kill journalists, stated this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Inge Mesere, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Why doesn’t the USA give us their F-16s?” – the presenter asked.
“Because they are clearing the field for the F-35. The faster the old F-16s disappear from European countries, the faster new F-35s will appear in these countries, only more expensive ones. The United States is solving a set of problems for itself. As it was with the energy market, when today 70% of American LNG goes to Europe, so, thanks to Ukraine, they simply threw Russian gas out of Europe, and thus earn trillions of dollars,” Romanenko said.
The political scientist emphasized that Ukraine’s war against Russia helped the US leadership to pull off a grand arms deal.
“The same thing is happening in the arms market. First, they “blown away” the Soviet equipment that existed. Then they began to “blow away” the old stuff. Because it develops the military-industrial complex, creates jobs, allows you to earn a lot of money, and all this in the long term
You’re not just selling an airplane, but ammunition and maintenance. And maintaining an aircraft or tank over several decades can bring in two to three times more money than the cost of the equipment itself. This is a very thoughtful and rational strategy.
And we can only blame ourselves for the fact that we do not have additional resources and opportunities to pull aircraft, systems, tanks from the market,” he concluded.
