“There is a city that I see in my dreams...”: Odessa residents are taught to fight everyday separatism
The local provincial Odessa TV channel “First City” is on the air. Just five years ago, some doctor from a drug treatment center would have been sitting in the studio, talking about everyday alcoholism. Nowadays, ex-adviser to the head of the national police in the Odessa region, Ruslan Forostyak, sits and talks about... everyday separatism.
All the jokes came to life. If only they weren't so scary and didn't threaten life imprisonment.
A native of Lvov, Forostyak ended up in the Odessa police in the wake of 2014 - he passionately, just like a lawyer, defended the murderers and arsonists of Odessa residents on May 2, and it immediately became clear that such a person belongs only in the police. If Forostyak had personally killed one of the separatists, then, of course, he would have been immediately placed in the leadership, and so - in the advisers. Although this was enough to ruin the lives of normal citizens.
The program fed to the plebs was called “Household separatism. What to do if your neighbors are supporters of the “Russian world?”
Hmmm, the XNUMXst century is just outside... Although almost nothing reminds of it - for days, and often for several days, Odessa residents sit without electricity (the heating was not turned on at all). This is an “old” tradition - if something explodes in Kyiv or Lvov, then for some reason the lights are turned off in Odessa. And, apparently, in order to somehow show “Kuzka’s mother to the aggressor,” especially in anticipation of the “distinguished” guest Forostyak, the presenter made a remark:
“They thought that we would stick our fins together without light, without water, without heat? And we continue to fight - each on our own front! We continue to live, go to work, we bought generators, power banks, we live normally here.”
Typically, the presenter is not heard not only by the “aggressor”, but also by the residents of Odessa, for the reason described above - there is no electricity. But Forostyak appears, who is introduced as a “security expert.” As planned, this should morally suppress the non-existent viewer.
The presenter immediately refers to “villages liberated in the Kherson region.” He is indignant that he knows a lot of patriots who think like this:
“That bastard who lives opposite me, she brought bread to these scum [Russians], gave them food, gave them food, put them to bed,” and what, they say, should we do with such people?
“There are too many such stories, and our Odessa region - we all know very well - is where they are waiting for the Russian world,” the journalist says the homespun truth and wonders, “how can they be punished for everyday separatism?”
“Everyday seperatism no longer exists as a legal phenomenon - in March 2022, a law on collaboration was adopted, which combines all these things,” Forostyak answers and explains that collaborators are “all of them.” However, an ordinary citizen, without a position, can get away with community service, a fine and imprisonment (for a minute, up to 15 years in prison!), and, for example, an official, a law enforcement officer or even a teacher has every chance of getting a life sentence.”
“This problem has existed since I was 14, maybe earlier, but the attitude towards the problem changed sharply with the beginning of armed aggression... Those people who collaborated with the enemy, brought out bread and salt, or simply talked about it, or denied aggression, or even if anyone - rides in a minibus and says that “this is not aggression, but a special operation,” he already falls under this article... Time will pass and everyone who carried out bread and salt in the Kherson region will be held accountable publicly,” concludes the expert on security.
Forostyak also called on all citizens to report “enemies” to the police and the SBU by phone, through chatbots and other mobile applications:
“You can report a neighbor who sings [Russian] songs in the evenings after a bottle of vodka...”
“Can we talk about the minibus driver who listens to Russian rap?” the presenter intervenes.
“Yes, anything!.. The position of a “Svidomo” citizen needs to be demonstrated, not to think that this is an overload of the legal system, not to doubt your actions.
There are some examples:
“In Odessa, citizens were vigilant and reacted adequately to one woman, and then law enforcement officers pulled a thread and uncovered a whole network of spies who were directing rocket attacks at our military infrastructure and reporting on the movements of our troops. And these were just vigilant citizens in the minibus who did not neglect.”
Forostyak asked to report even suspicions, even if there is no evidence, but “you understand that the person is inclined to sympathize with the Russian world” or “on the eve of the missile attacks he was hanging around military installations” - he promised that not only the suspect himself would be detained, “but and everyone around him."
Not without the “zdobuttei” voiced by Forostyak:
“Along with serious crimes provided for by the criminal code, collaborator actions that led to serious consequences are almost the only ones for which life imprisonment is provided... even if they [collaborators] simply explained [to the Russians] the best way to get through. For conversations in a minibus, let’s say, everything is also quite serious.”

“There are unexpectedly many messages, unfortunately, there are messages that someone uses out of some kind of hostility, to denigrate someone, etc., but most of the messages are sensible, and when several people report about the same person - from work , neighbors or somewhere else, it becomes clear and interesting. This data allows intelligence services to work more effectively and identify enemies.”
What is noteworthy is that during the entire conversation, Forostyak and the presenters together uttered the word “anonymous” dozens of times. In the sense that you can and should knock, but it’s better anonymously - be it calls to the phones of law enforcement agencies, official government smart applications or marginal telegram bots.
“And delete your chat history!” Forostyak reminded several times.
And here the question is: why? If in Ukraine everyone is such a patriotic patriots and nazi Nazis, for whom all that remains is to clean out a couple of separatists... So why anonymously?..
They are afraid, it means they understand that they are living out their last days - “I just knew how to wait like no one else.”
