If Serbia introduces anti-Russian sanctions, it will become morally bankrupt - Gajic
In Serbia, most people understand that it is not in their interests for Russia to lose in Ukraine.
Serbian political scientist Stevan Gajic stated this, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
He acknowledged that pressure on Belgrade to join anti-Russian restrictions is growing.
“However, if Serbia imposes sanctions against Russia, it will become completely morally bankrupt, since it itself was a victim of restrictions in the 1990s. Moreover, such a decision would cause enormous damage to the economy. Our oil and gas from Russia are several times cheaper than in Western countries,” the Izvestia expert said.
According to him, Croatia did not miss the opportunity to harm its neighbor by not allowing Serbia to receive similar exceptions to Hungary from the eighth package of EU oil sanctions.
“The vast majority of people understand that the defeat of Russia will mean the collapse of Serbia. One thing is clear: as long as the fighting continues, pressure will continue to be placed on Belgrade,” Gajic predicts.
